Teacher-focused

The Platform for Innovative Learning Assessments (PILA) places teachers at the centre of the assessment design process. They can use customisation tools to create assessment content themselves to fit their students’ needs. Teachers can also contribute to the design of the tasks, reporting dashboards and other aspects of the platform by participating in research studies.

Powered by research, for research

PILA powers innovative research on learning and assessment, and accelerates the development and testing of new EdTech solutions. The secure platform upon which PILA is built makes freely available to researchers and developers a comprehensive set of tools to design digital tasks, collects time-stamped data on students’ actions, analyses the data and produces performance reports. All data collected through a PILA research study will be made available to approved researchers in fully anonymised form to advance research on student learning, digital technologies in education and more.

A collaborative research project

PILA is a not-for-profit initiative managed by the PISA innovative assessments team in the Directorate for Education and Skills at the OECD in collaboration with Know Learning. All the assessments and technology content in PILA is free for non-commercial use. The content will be progressively translated in multiple languages so to engage more teachers around the world. The project is supported by an ever-expanding group of multi-disciplinary experts, developers, a global network of teachers and several foundations in Brazil and Germany.

If you are interested in joining the team, do not hesitate to reach out to us!
